'Kaiju Sighting' Giclée Print
Ancient myths of 'kaiju' monsters emerged over two thousand years ago in China. The term was adopted much more recently in Japan to describe dinosaurs and other ancient animals, and of course, giant movie monsters!
This print was inspired by Hokusai's "The Great Wave off Kanagawa", which has become so famous, it's now a meme across the internet. I tried to add my own touches of creativity by altering the overall composition, the shape of the waves and the depiction of the monster.
The bold cartouche says 'Kaiju". The smaller one translates roughly to mean:
Archival pigments on acid-free handmade Japanese paper.
Every print is signed and sealed by the artist.
Measures 12x17 inches.
手漉き和紙(耳付き)と顔料絵の具を使用。
各作品に絵師ジェッドのサインと落款付き。
31.75 x 43 cm.
